Wolfpack Hustle – Civic Center Crit

Wolfpack Hustle organizó la tercera edición del Civic Center Crit, una vez más, en la ciudad de Los Ángeles, California. Corredores de todo el país y del extranjero se dieron cita en Los Ángeles City Hall el pasado sábado para disputar esta carrera y sobrevivir al sofocante calor que azotaba las calles con temperaturas que alcanzaron los 38ºC.

Las clasificaciones fueron intensas con todos los equipos dando el 110% para llegar a la final. Después de un par de accidentes y de haberlo dado todo y más, las finales estaban a la vuelta de la esquina.

Finales categoría femenina

La final de mujeres empezó muy fuerte con corredoras con mucho nivel y en la que había muchos nombres destacados en la línea de salida. Se empezó por la categoría de carretera, y después de una intensa carrera con mucha competencia, Jennifer Whalen del equipo Aventon Factory se llevó el primer puesto.

En la categoría fixed gear, la victoria fue para Ash Duban (Affinity Cycles) que ganó después de haber disputado un mano a mano contra la inagotable Jo Celso del Team Cinelli Chrome.

Finales categoría masculina

La final masculina también empezó con la categoría de carretera, donde el corredor profesional y local Rahsaan Bahati se llevó sin mucho esfuerzo la victoria.

En cuanto a la final de la categoría fixed gear, fue realmente interesante.

Apenas habían pasado unos segundos de la salida que hubo una caída múltiple en la que sucumbieron casi la mitad de los corredores. Una situación realmente complicada para la organización que le obligó a tomar la decisión de parar la carrera y repetir la salida. Después de un par de moretones y arañazos, y algunos egos tocados, los riders se volvieron a colocar en la línea de salida para empezar de nuevo lo que sería la última carrera de la noche. David Santos del equipo Aventon Factory Team realizó una escapada en solitario que le dio la victoria a 15s de Justin Williams que finalizó la carrera en segundo puesto.

Wolfpack Hustle se ha convertido en una fuerza impulsora en el ámbito del ciclismo en L.A.; Roadblock (el organizador) siempre se las arregla para crear eventos como este y cuantos más mejor. Fue una carrera absolutamente increíble a pesar del calor brutal que hizo, la gente en general se lo pasó genial. Con el Civic Center Crit concluye la tercera carrera del Unified Title Series, quedando sólo la final en Austin, Tejas.

Wolfpack Hustle has delivered for the Los Angeles bicycle scene yet again with the third installment of the Civic Center Crit. Racers from around the country and abroad came together around LA City Hall last Saturday, taking on tough competition, and battling it out in the swelteringly hot temperatures reaching up to 38ºC.

Qualifiers were intense with all teams working at 110% to get into the finals. After a couple crashes and a nice dip into the pain cave, the results were in for the fastest riders, and the finals were soon to start.

Women’s Finals

The women’s finals came into play at full force with strong riders and big names taking it to the front line. The night started off with road, and after an intense race with a lot of competition, Jennifer Whalen from the Aventon Factory Team took the win for the road category.

In the women’s track category, Ash Duban (Affinity Cycles) came in with a blistering win, against Jo Celso (Team Cinelli Chrome) in a neck and neck finish.

Men’s Finals

The men’s finals were also kicked off with the road category, where local Los Angeles pro racer Rahsaan Bahati blew in taking the win.

Now the track finals were where it gets really interesting. In the men’s track final, the race started without a hitch. Until 5 seconds later when a rider went down, causing nearly half the field to pile up more feet from the starting line. After a restart, and a couple bruises and damaged egos, the riders took off for the final race of the night. David Santos from the Aventon Factory Team led a massive breakaway resulting in a great win with an almost 15 second gap against second place.

Wolfpack Hustle has become a driving force in the LA bicycle scene; Roadblock always manages to pull off the greatest events. It was an absolutely awesome race and despite the brutal heat, everyone seemed to have a great time. With the end of the Civic Center Crit, this concludes the 3rd race in the Unified Title Series, only leaving The Finale in Austin, Texas.
