Tibidabo Hill Climb Vol.II

Feel the wind hits your chest, rain soaks your body, go to your limit, fight your mind and avoid any thought of throwing in the towel and don’t think about what it remains otherwise all what you have already done, focus on keep pedaling, clenching your teeth to draw strength from where there is none, overcome the last meters and finally reach the summit and outmanoeuvre the mountain.

THC’14

The second edition of Tibidabo Hill Climb, held last weekend in Barcelona, ​​has done justice to its slogan “The Barcelona’s hardest uphill time trial” and despite the hardness of the race and bad weather, end up as one of the best races of the year in Barcelona.

The race had an attendance of 72 riders from a total of 110 enrolled. Among those present, people from Girona, Madrid, France, London and a bunch of brave people from Barcelona and outskirts, who wanted to forget the rain awhile, take the bike and throw down the gauntlet to the timer.

The main target of THC is the fixed gear however due to high demand in the first edition, this year we decided to include a new category (FREERIDE) in which it was allowed to participate with any bike. Which was the result? A great success. People responded very well and we had the opportunity to see riders with folding bikes, tandems, road bikes, MTB, hand bikes, etc. A real bike feast.

Regarding the other categories, there was a high level. The girls, bit by bit are encouraging to take part and this year we had more registered. And the categories Medium and Ultra had top riders from other disciplines who didn’t want to miss this incredible event.

Among the suffering of the riders, the demand of the race, and bad weather, all combined made Saturday morning into something epic.

POST-PARTY

The organization chose Juanita Lalá for the awards. The place was filled to the top of people, once again braved the storm and came expectantly to greet the winners of the different categories.

There were significant prizes for the winners of each category, four special prizes, and lots of gifts that were raffled among all participants, thanks to the many sponsors who won the second edition of Tibidabo Hill Climb.

A party end quite lives up to this great event, which, year after year amaze us and THC tends to become a benchmark.

    Sentir como el viento te golpea el pecho, la lluvia te cala el cuerpo, poner tu cuerpo al límite, luchar contra tu mente y evitar cualquier pensamiento de tirar la toalla, no pensar en cuánto te queda si no en todo lo que ya has recorrido, concentrarte en seguir pedaleando, apretar los dientes para sacar fuerzas de donde no las hay, superar los últimos metros y, al fin, conquistar la cima y ganarle la partida a la montaña.

    THC’14

    La segunda edición del Tibidabo Hill Climb, celebrada el pasado fin de semana en Barcelona, ha hecho justicia a su eslogan “La crono-escalda más dura de Barcelona” y ha conseguido, a pesar de la dureza de la prueba y el mal tiempo, acabar como una de las mejores pruebas del año de la ciudad condal.

    La carrera contó con una asistencia de 72 corredores de un total de 110 inscritos. Entre los presentes, gente de Girona, Madrid, Francia, Londres y un buen montón de valientes de Barcelona y alrededores que quisieron olvidar la lluvia por un rato, coger su bici y ponerse a echar un pulso al cronómetro.

    El target principal del THC es el piñón fijo pero, debido a la gran demanda que hubo en la primera edición, este año se decidió incluir una nueva categoría (FREERIDE) en la que se permitía participar con cualquier tipo de bicicleta. ¿El resultado? Un éxito. La gente respondió muy bien y tuvimos la oportunidad de ver a corredores participando con bicis plegables, tándems, bicis de carretera, MTB, handbikes, etc. Toda una fiesta de la bici.

    En cuanto al resto de categorías, hubo mucho nivel. Las chicas poco a poco se van animando y este año ya hemos tenido más inscritas. Y las categorías Medium y Ultra han contado con corredores top procedentes de otras disciplinas que no se han querido perder esta increíble prueba.

    Entre el sufrimiento de los corredores, la exigencia de la carrera, y el mal tiempo, todo en conjunto hizo que la mañana del sábado se convirtiera en algo épico.

    POST-PARTY

    La organización optó por Juanita Lalá para la entrega de premios. El local se llenó hasta arriba de gente que, una vez más, desafiaron a la tormenta y acudieron expectantes a recibir a los vencedores de las distintas categorías.

    Hubo importantes premios para los ganadores de cada categoría, cuatro premios especiales, y un montón de regalos que se sortearon entre todos los participantes, todo gracias al gran número de patrocinadores que obtuvo esta segunda edición del Tibidabo Hill Climb.

    Un final de fiesta muy a la altura de este gran evento que, año tras año, nos acaba sorprendiendo y que el THC tiende a convertirse en todo un referente.
