RHC Brooklyn n.7 – La tormenta perfecta

Dejamos el RHC del año pasado en la oscuridad de Milán y retomamos el campeonato en el mítico escenario de Brooklyn, encargado de dar el pistoletazo de salida al Red Hook Crit Series de 2014.

La euforia y las ansias por empezar la temporada se hacen notar desde hace semanas pero, son los días antes de la carrera cuando las redes sociales explotan de fotos de riders recién llegados a la gran manzana fruto de la emoción por debutar un año más en el campeonato del piñón fijo por excelencia.

Cada año se incorporan nuevas marcas, se forman nuevos equipos y se estrenan nuevas equipaciones, más corredores se atreven con esta prueba tan exigente pero, lo que realmente hace especial esta magnífica carrera, es el ambiente de buen rollo de la gente al reencontrarse después de todo el invierno.

Si hubiera que poner un título para resumir la primera carrera de las RHC Series 2014, sin duda sería: la tormenta perfecta.

CATEGORÍA FEMENINA

El RCH da la bienvenida a las damas de la forma más dura. En la carrera inaugural, en Brooklyn Nº7, el protagonista no es precisamente un corredor/a sino más bien el mal tiempo que estuvo presente.

En la línea de salida, nueve grados centígrados y asfalto mojado. Las condiciones al límite determinan una carrera que no permite a ninguna una de las corredoras concretar un ataque. El grupo se queda bastante compacto exceptuando algún caso que se van descolgando a medida que pasan las vueltas. Una caída provoca la parada de la carrera a tres vueltas del final.

Se reanuda la lucha y finalmente se hace con la victoria Jo Celso rider del equipo Wolfpack Hustle, en segundo puesto Liz So (Tativille) y en tercer lugar llega Ash Duban (Haute Wheels).

Destacar el accidente que sufrió Shane Ferro que, lamentablemente, acabó con una clavícula rota durante la ronda de clasificación. Le deseamos una pronta recuperación.

CATEGORIA MASCULINA

La noche cubre Brooklyn, la temperatura baja hasta los cinco grado centígrados y la lluvia cae violentamente e incesantemente contra el asfalto. La adrenalina está a mil por hora, Trimble comunica que por cuestiones de seguridad el número de vueltas serán un total de 15 en lugar de 24, algo que añade más tensión aun.

La carrera empieza. Comienzan quince vueltas a ritmo frenético a pesar del mal tiempo y las condiciones extremas en las que se encuentran el circuito. La lucha entre los corredores más fuertes no se hace esperar y curva a curva las posiciones se van alternando como si no estuviera lloviendo. Un puro infierno.

El francés, Thibaud Lhenry (In’bo Team) con su bici de bambú hecha a mano, logra hacerse con el posición más deseada y gana la carrera. En segunda posición y, a pocos segundos, Alessandro Bruzza, autor de una gran actuación junto con su compañero de equipo Neil Bezdek que consigue un tercer puesto, ambos del equipo Cinelli Chrome.

Fuera del podio pero con un merecidísimo quinto puesto, encontramos al guerrero Mario Paz Duque (el chino) del equipo Iride que nos regaló una carrera alucinante y también Walton Brush (Mash Team) que también hizo un brillante resultado.

El frío y la lluvia no han podido con ellos y el espíritu de la carrera ha persistido. Las condiciones meteorológicas han perjudicado a lo que hubiese sido un evento perfecto, pero no hay mal que por bien no venga, y estas condiciones han hecho que la prueba se haga más épica.

Difícilmente nos vamos a poder olvidar de este RHC y Thibaud, el rider francés que ganó esta durísima prueba subido a su bici de bambú.

Otro éxito de David Trimble y todo su equipo, en lo que fue un evento muy complicado de gestionar, pero que al final ha terminado de una forma impecable.

Nuestros ordenadores, teléfonos, y perfiles de redes sociales no han parado durante el fin de semana, parecía la base de la N.A.S.A. durante el lanzamiento del Apolo 13. Agradecer enormemente a toda la gente que nos ha ayudado y nos ha mantenidos informados, sobretodo dar las gracias a Caroline Pauleau (Dondto) que directamente desde NYC ha sido nuestra estrella polar al otro lado del charco.

We left the RHC last year in the darkness of Milan and we retake the championship at the legendary scene of Brooklyn, responsible for giving the starting gun shot for Red Hook Crit 2014 Series.

The euphoria and eager to start the season are noted for weeks, but days before the race when social networks are exploited with photos of riders and newcomers to the big apple making it the emotion to debut another year in the fixed gear championship excellence.

Each year new brands join new teams and are formed with new kits released, more riders are dare to race this demanding test, but what really makes it special this magnificent race, is the environment of good vibes from the people to reunite after the winter.

If we had to put a title to resume the first race of the 2014 Series RHC, it would certainly be: the perfect storm

GIRLS CRITERIUM

RHC gives his welcome to the girls in the strongest way possible. In the inaugural race with the best female riders in the world, but the real main character wasn’t one of the riders it was the bad weather, that was present the hole race.

On the start line temperature is around 8*degrees, it’s rainy and the road was slippery and wet. Conditions were extreme, and the race it was tough but every girl follows her own strength line to push harder and don’t get left out of the front group. The raced stopped at 3 laps to go. Then they started off again. Jo Celso (Wolfpack Hustle) won the first RHC, Liz So (Tativille) came in 2nd and Ash Duban (Haute Wheels) 3rd. Congrats to all the racers and to all the girls who were involved, this was the first big step of many. The next one is Barcelona. Hope with a better weather.

We take the occasion to say GET BETTER soon to Shane Ferro, that has broken her collar bone in a crash during the qualifying.

MEN’S CRITERIUM

The darkness embrace Brooklyn, temperature is around 5º degrees and is raining hard. Adrenalin is at the top at the starting line, Trimble inform that for security reasons the race will have 15 instead 24 laps, it’s a very delicate moment, but there is no time left! The race started couple of minutes later, 15 laps with a frenetic pace despite the extreme dangerous conditions, the leaders of the race were taking the curves like if the road wasn’t even wet.

First place fot Thibaud Lhenry (In’bo) with his handmade bamboo bicycle. Second place with a few seconds of gap, we find Alessandro Bruzza that made a huge performance with his team mate Neil Bezdek that came in 3rd (Cinelli Chrome). Out of the podium but had done a really good race is Mario Paz Duque ‘el chino’ (Iride), that rides like a fighter and takes 5th place and Walton Brush (Mash Team) that also did a brilliant race.

The cold and rain have failed them and the spirit of the race has persisted. If the weather conditions weren’t so bad, it would have been a perfect event, but every cloud has a silver lining, and these conditions have made the test become more epic.

I think that we will never forget the RHC where a French guy won on a handmade bamboo bike, in what was the Crit called “the perfect storm”. Another huge success for Trimble and co. This time things weren’t as easy to handle… but as usual it was all well organized, and the care for details was perfect.

Our Office yesterday was full of PC’s notes, whatsapp, facebook, contacts… and it looked like the headquarter of the NASA in Cape Canaveral during the launch of the Apolo 13. Thanks god we didn’t have any problem and we could document the event.

We want to thanks Caroline Pauleau (Dondto) for the huge help on the field!! She was like our Polar Star in the Storm of Brooklyn!
