El Kantoikrit tampoco escapa de la lluvia

Primero fue el Criterium Pontevedra, luego, el Criterium Valencia y, la última víctima de la dichosa lluvia, ha sido el critérium más gamberro del panorama actual, el Kantoikrit de Oñati. Entre sus callejuelas transcurre una emocionante carrera repleta de atractivos para los corredores y, sobretodo, para el público que, edición tras edición, acude a esta inolvidable cita.

Para esta edición el número de inscritos ha crecido considerablemente (55) respecto a años anteriores y las chicas no quieren quedarse atrás (encontramos a faltar una categoría propia para ellas).

CARRERA

Parecía que el tiempo iba a respetar a la carrera porqué estuvo luciendo un solazo durante todo el día pese a la previsión de tormenta pero, justo unos instantes antes de la carrera, el cielo dio un giro y comenzó a llover intensamente.

Los corredores fueron entrando poco a poco al circuito intentado adaptarse a la situación actual en la que la prioridad era no arriesgar en las curvas, no pisar la pintura de las señalizaciones en el asfalto e intentar esprintar.

Entre risas y caras de preocupación los corredores se amontonaban en la línea de salida listos (o no) para intentar completar la carrera sanos y salvos.

Comenzaba la vuelta neutralizada en las que los corredores tratarían de buscar una buena posición pero, a pocas curvas del inicio, ya empezaron a aparecer las primeras caídas, una de ellas multitudinaria en la que se vieron implicados un montón de corredores del pelotón de cabeza y solo los que consiguieron esquivarla se vieron beneficiados.

Explicar cómo transcurrió el resto de carrera es una tarea complicada. Conseguir dar una vuelta sin tener un susto o toparte con algún rider accidentado era casi misión imposible.

Vuelta a vuelta, la diferencia entre los corredores de cabeza y el resto de participantes, aumentaba considerablemente e iban siendo eliminados a medida que eran alcanzados por un Ivan Morente en primera posición, destacado, y con una amplia ventaja sobre los demás.

A medida que avanzaba la carrera fueron quedando muy pocos corredores sin ser doblados, tanto, que llegaba la última vuelta y solo quedaban los tres primeros clasificados (supervivientes).

Una vez más, el pueblo de Oñati estuvo a la altura, animando incondicionalmente a pesar de la lluvia y creando un ambiente inigualable. En cuanto a la organización, se dejaron la piel en que todo saliera redondo y fue una lástima que las condiciones climatológicas se torcieran en el último momento.

Como no podía ser de otra manera, al final acabamos todos tomando unas cervezas por las calles de este fantástico pueblo, riendo, de cachondeo y repasando como había ido la carrera.

First came the Criterium Pontevedra, then the Criterium Valencia and, the latest victim of the blessed rain, has been the more thug Criterium on the current scene, the Kantoikrit of Oñati. Between streets pass off an exciting race full of attractions for riders and, above all, for the public who, year after year, attend this unforgettable event.

For this edition the number of registrations has grown considerably (55) than in previous years and women do not want to lag behind (we missed a women category there).

THE RACE

It seemed that the weather would respect the race because the whole day was shiny despite the storm forecast; but just a few moments before the race, the sky became black and began to rain heavily.

The riders were slowly going into the circuit trying to adapt to the current situation in which the priority was not to risk in the curves, do not tread on signals painted on the asphalt and try to sprint.

Between laughter and concern faces the riders piled up at the starting line ready (or not) to try to complete the race safe and sound.

The neutralized lap began where all riders would try to find a good position, but a few curves of the starting line, the first falls already began to appear, one of them mass in which a lot of riders of the head bunch were involved and only those who avoid it were benefited.

To explain how the rest of the race was is a complicated task. Ride a lap without having a scare or come up against a rider by accident was almost an impossible mission.

Lap to lap, the difference between the riders of the head and the rest of participants, increased significantly and they were eliminated as they were reached by an Ivan Morente in first position, highlighted, and with a wide advantage over the others.

As the race progressed few riders remained without being overtaken, the last lap came and only the first three finishers (survivors) remained.

Once again, the town of Oñati was at the height, encouraging unconditionally despite the rain and creating a unique atmosphere. In terms of organization, they broke their back so that everything went good and it was a pity that the weather conditions changed at the last moment.

As it could not be otherwise, at the end we drank a few beers through the streets of this fantastic town, laughing, joking and reviewing as the race had gone
