I Criterium La Vall d’Uixó – Falles Crit

Recuerdo cuando Richard, pieza clave en la organización del Criterium La Vall d’Uixò, se puso en contacto con nosotros y nos explicó el proyecto que querían llevar a cabo. Sonaba realmente bien y no quisimos perder la oportunidad de formar parte de ello.

Desde el primer minuto pusieron toda la carne en el asador. La idea era incluir, dentro de las fiestas del pueblo, un critérium de piñón fijo que fuese 100% urbano y que, además, contara con la mayor asistencia posible, a pesar de ser su primera edición.

Pensaron en el corredor en todo momento, querían que cada uno de ellos se sintiera como en casa ofreciendo una inscripción cargada de extras, ofertas en estancia, y una hospitalidad enorme por parte de todo el staff del critérium y de la propia gente del pueblo.

Todo y que en un primer momento la gente no tenía claro si asistir o no al evento, finalmente las listas de inscritos se fueron llenando hasta conseguir más de 70 inscritos, con varios internacionales, y 10 chicas en la categoría femenina.

RACE DAY

Nos despertábamos en la Vall d’Uixò. El día de antes habíamos estado recogiendo los dorsales y cenando con parte de la organización que invitó a todos los corredores a un pica-pica a modo de bienvenida y toma de contacto.

El circuito discurría completamente por las calles céntricas del pueblo. Eran las Falles y se respiraba un ambiente festivo en cada esquina.

El trazado tenía un par de zonas técnicas pero en su mayor parte era rápido. Constaba de dos grandes rectas en las que el rebufo cobraba una gran importancia y la recta de meta se encontraba en una pendiente positiva que vuelta a vuelta te machacaba las piernas.

Aparentemente el circuito no era complicado pero había que vigilar mucho para no caerse ya que había partes en las que el asfalto estaba muy desgastado y era muy fácil acabar en el suelo.

Se llevaban a cabo dos finales masculinas, una para amateurs donde los corredores que habían hecho un resultado superior al del tiempo de corte durante la clasificación se disputarían las tres primeras plazas de esta categoría, y la final PRO donde, los más experimentados, lucharían con todas sus fuerzas para alzarse con la victoria.

En cuanto a las chicas, carrera también muy disputada y con un alto nivel. Sin duda, la participación de algunas corredoras del equipo Reyno de Navarra, capitaneado por Héctor Rondán, puso más emoción a la categoría.

Destacar la presencia de corredores de la escena internacional como el italiano Paolo Bravini del Team Cinelli Chrome, varios integrantes del Oscar Cycling Team también de Italia, los hermanos Junquera del equipo oficial POLOANDBIKE o la mismísima Ainara Elbusto, dos veces campeona de las RHC Series.

Nos gustaría poner una nota muy alta a los chicos de la organización del critérium por todo el esfuerzo, atención y dedicación para que fuese un fin de semana completo. Siendo su primera edición, estamos más que satisfechos con el resultado y seguro que el año que viene habrá más y mejor.

I remember when Richard, a key piece in the Organization of the Criterium La Vall d’Uixó, got in touch with us and explained to us the project that they wanted to carry out. It sounded really good and we didn’t want to lose the opportunity to be part of it.

From the first minute they work their heart out. The idea was to include, within the village festival, a criterium of fixed gear that was 100% urban and that, moreover, has greater assistance possible, despite being its first edition.

They thought in the rider at all times, they wanted each of them feels at home, offering a registration with many extra events, offers on stay and a great hospitality by the staff of the criterium and the people of the village.

Although at first people were not clear whether to attend or not to the event, finally the registered lists were filled until more than 70 registered, with several internationals and 10 girls in the women’s category.

RACE DAY

We woke up in La Vall d’Uixó. The day before we collected the numbers and had dinner with part of the organization who invited all riders to a welcome and first contact appetizers.

The Circuit pass completely through the central streets of the village. They were las Falles and you breathed a festive atmosphere in every corner.

The path had a couple of technical areas but for the most part it was fast. It consisted of two major straight in which the slipstream took a great importance and the end line was at the end of a positive slope line that lap to lap crushing you legs.

Apparently the circuit was not complicated, but you had to be much careful to not fall because there were parts where the asphalt was much worn and was very easy to end up on the floor.

They were carried out two men finals, one for amateurs where riders who had a higher time than the court time during the classification they would compete for the three first places in this category, and the second for PRO where the more experienced, would fight with all their strength to win.

The women race was much disputed and had a high-level. Undoubtedly the participation of some riders of the team Reyno de Navarra, leaded by Héctor Rondán, put more emotion to the category.

We would like to highlight the presence of riders from the international scene as the Italian Paolo Bravini of the Team Cinelli Chrome, several members of the Oscar Cycling Team also from Italy, the Junquera’s brothers of the official POLOANDBIKE team or Ainara Elbusto who won twice the RHC Series.

We’d like to put a very high grade to the Criterium organization guys, for all the effort, attention and dedication to make it a full weekend. Despite being the first edition, we are more than satisfied with the result and we are sure that the coming year there will be more and better.
