It’s all set in San Sebastian, because on Saturday July 12 will take place the DonostiaKriterium.

In San Sebastian, as throughout the Basque country, the passion for cycling is unmatchable, and the collective HiriBira is partly to blame. Responsible or “guilty” for organizing this event, tells us that the DonostiaKriterium is inspired and created as a tribute to “Critérium ciclista nocturna del Boulevard”, an important race that was part of the program of “Classic’s of San Sebastián”, which was a very successful cycling criterium, the public and the city of San Sebastian. Unfortunately, as its happens to often, over the years this race eventually disappeared. Taking advantage of the massive popularity of this kind of racing in the fixed gear world, the collective HiriBira offers again their city and a big show as a night criterium, reinterpreting it in “modern” key.

The 1.2 km circuit is set in a completely urban area next to the beach between Avenues José Miguel Barandiaran, Zurriola Avenue and Avenida Navarra. With a maximum capacity of 60 participants, riders must complete 22 laps and a total distance of approximately 24 km.

The safety of the riders always first: traffic closed, mandatory helmet and all rules that are already part of the international protocol crits.

The association HiriBira effort, good organization, great prizes (including a fabulous KRZBERG v4 custom color from 8bar bikes) and a beautiful city to party… With all this and more has all the DonostiaKriterium ingredients to be a success!

    En San Sebastián ya está todo listo, el próximo sábado 12 de julio tendrá lugar el DonostiaKriterium.

    En Donosti, como en todo el país vasco, la pasión por el ciclismo es incomparable, y el colectivo HiriBira tiene parte de culpa. Responsables o “culpables” de organizar este pedazo de evento, nos explican que el DonostiaKriterium se inspira y nace como un homenaje a la “Critérium ciclista nocturna del Boulevard”, una importante carrera que formaba parte del programa de “la clásica de San Sebastián”, critérium que tuvo mucho éxito entre los ciclistas, el público y la ciudad de San Sebastián. Lamentablemente, como ocurre en demasiadas ocasiones con el paso de los años, esta carrera acabó desapareciendo. Aprovechando la gran popularidad que están teniendo este formato de pruebas en el mundo del piñón fijo, el colectivo HiriBira vuelva a ofrecer a su ciudad el gran espectáculo de un critérium nocturno, reinterpretándolo en clave “moderna”.

    El circuito de 1,2 km se desarrolla en una zona completamente urbana al lado de la playa entre las avenidas José Miguel Barandiaran, Avenida Zurriola y Avenida Navarra. Con un aforo máximo de 60 participantes, los corredores deberán completar 22 vueltas al circuito y una distancia total de unos 24 km aproximadamente.

    La seguridad de los corredores siempre en primer lugar: tráfico cerrado, casco obligatorio y todas las normas que ya forman parte del protocolo de los crits internacionales.

    El esfuerzo de la asociación HiriBira, buena organización, grandes premios (entre ellos un fabuloso cuadro KRZBERG v4 custom color por parte de 8bar bikes) y una preciosa ciudad en fiesta… ¡Con todo esto y mucho más, el DonostiaKriterium tiene todos los ingredientes para ser todo un éxito!
