Iberian Bike Messengers Championship (CIMB)

In an age where the daily occurrences are the depilatory bands and lycra, we are very happy to hear again news about hairy, loud and never forgotten, the bike-messengers world.

The Iberian Bike Messengers Championship (CIMB) comes back, and this time it comes back on a large scale. It will be held in Madrid and the show will be assured!

Messengers! Take note: The date chosen is the second weekend of June, more accurately, 10, 11 and 12 June. It is expected to messengers around the territory and many other parts of the world will attend it.

Looking a little bit more in depth, the CIMB 2016 is divided into two main races which will be carried out at the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid:

  • Main Race / Race Messengers. Simulating the daily of a messenger, the race consists of several checkpoints where messengers have to go from point to point as quickly as possible; it takes place in a closed circuit like a CX race with obstacles such as stairs. Cargo-bike category included.
  • Criterium of fixed gear. The race is in a closed 1.5 km and 22 laps circuit, and the only aim is that nobody overtakes you.
  • Bike-polo championship

And if that were not enough…

  • Photographic exhibition with snapshots of previous editions, video projections, and goldsprints in the center of Madrid, less than 15 km from the race place.

From RAW Cycling Mag we do not see how best to support this project to offer our magazine as a platform for all initiatives that promote bike-messenger international community.

    En una época donde el pan de cada día son las bandas depilatorias y la lycra, nos alegramos mucho de oír de nuevo noticias del peludo, ruidoso y, nunca olvidado, mundo de los bike-messengers.

    El Campeonato Ibérico de Mensajeros en Bicicleta (CIMB) vuelve, y esta vez lo hace a lo grande. Se celebrará en Madrid y ¡la liada está asegurada!

    ¡Mensajeros! Tomar nota: La fecha elegida es el segundo fin de semana de Junio, más exactamente, el 10, 11 y 12 de junio. Está prevista la asistencia de messengers de todo el territorio y de muchas otras partes del mundo.

    Analizando un poco más en profundidad, el CIMB 2016 se divide en dos carreras principales que se disputaran en la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid:

    • Main Race / Carrera de Mensajeros. Simulando el día a día de un mensajero, la prueba consta de varios puntos de control donde los mensajeros tienen que ir de punto a punto lo más rápido posible, se desarrolla en un circuito cerrado parecido a una carrera de CX con obstáculos como por ejemplo escaleras. Contará con categoría especial para cargo-bike.
    • Critérium de piñón fijo. La prueba es en un circuito cerrado de 1,5 km y 22 vueltas, y el único obstáculo es conseguir que no te doblen.
    • Campeonato bike-polo

    Y si no fuera suficiente…

    • Exposición fotográfica con instantáneas de ediciones anteriores, proyecciones de video, y goldsprints en el centro de Madrid, a menos de 15 km del lugar de las carreras.

    Por parte de RAW Cycling Mag no vemos mejor forma de apoyar este proyecto que ofrecer nuestro magazine como plataforma para todas aquellas iniciativas que fomentan la comunidad bike-messenger internacional.
