Bike Review: Titici Flexy Gravel

He was born and grew up in my family, as Matteo Pedrazzini describes the Titici company.

Our last Test bike has as protagonist this Italian brand whose origin dates back to 1961. Many changes have been occurred since then, the steel changed for carbon and although the manufacturing methods have evolved remarkably, the brand continues with an end to end philosophy with the client. Custom-made, craftsmanship and a proud Fatto a mano in Italia in all their frames.

Since 2017, this process of evolution has a clear protagonist, the Flexy system. Titici builds all their current frames following this philosophy applied in the Top Tube of their frames. This characteristic is reflected in a tube that starts conical and ends flat in its union with the Seat Tube, Titici tells us that this method achieves 18% more absorption of vibrations than a “normal” tube and as well it’s a visual element differentiating of these frames which leaves no one indifferent.

We could try its gravel variant, you know how RAW likes this discipline, and we were delighted with the dynamic behavior of the frame. The flexy system seems to be specifically designed for this modality, we believe that it is precisely to this discipline where the most benefit can be obtained. This means a very comfortable ride when we leave the asphalt, and believe us if we tell you that we tested it in complicated situations, and it fulfilled. The frame is not especially light, but it is not a determining feature, it is its absorption of irregularities for gravel, where it notably fulfills its purpose.

Our unit had carbon rings 3T DISCUS C35 team, with a set of Vittoria tires. As for peripherals, handlebar, stem, and seatpost from 3T again, along with a Fizik Antares saddle. The group Sram force 1×11 was the only non-Italian element of the set. We would have liked to have an even more high-end unit to lose weight and make use of 100% of the potential of the Titici Flexy Gravel, however we think it is an option to take into account, the hand-made, comfort and differentiating aesthetics of its Top Tube system made us enjoy testing it a lot.

Bike Review: Titici Flexy Gravel

“Nació y creció dentro de mi familia”, así describe Matteo Pedrazzini a la compañía Titici.

Nuestra último Bike Review tiene como protagonista a esta marca Italiana cuyo orígen se remonta a 1961. Mucho ha cambiado desde entonces, el acero cambió por carbono y aunque los métodos de fabricación han evolucionado notablemente, la marca sigue con una filosofía end-to-end con el cliente. Personalización, artesanía y un orgulloso Fatto a mano in Italia en todos sus cuadros.

Desde 2017, ese proceso de evolución tiene un claro protagonista, el sistema Flexy. Titici construye todos sus actuales cuadros siguiendo esta filosofía aplicada en el Top Tube de sus marcos. Esta característica queda reflejada en un tubo que se inicia cónico y acaba plano en su unión con el Seat Tube, Titici nos dice que con este método consigue un 18% más de absorción de vibraciones que con un tubo “normal”, a su vez constituye un elemento visual diferenciador de estos cuadros que no deja indiferente a nadie.

Pudimos probar su variante gravel, ya sabéis como nos gusta esta disciplina, y quedamos encantados con el comportamiento dinámico del cuadro. El sistema flexy parece pensado expresamente para esta modalidad, creemos que es precisamente en esta disciplina donde más provecho puede sacarse al mismo. Esto se traduce en un rodar muy cómodo cuando abandonamos el asfalto, y creednos si os decimos que lo testeamos en situaciones complicadas, y cumplió. El cuadro no es especialmente ligero pero no es una característica determinante, sí lo es su absorción de las irregularidades para una gravel, donde cumple notablemente su propósito.

Nuestra unidad contaba con aros 3T DISCUS C35 team de carbono, con un conjunto de ruedas Vittoria. En cuanto a periféricos, manillar, potencia y tija eran firmados de nuevo por 3T junto con un sillín Fizik Antares. El grupo Sram force 1×11 era el único elemento no Italiano del conjunto. Nos hubiera gustado contar con una unidad aún más high end para bajar peso y explotar el 100% del potencial de la Titici Flexy Gravel, no obstante nos parece una opción muy a tener en cuenta, la fabricación a mano, la comodidad y estética diferenciadora de su sistema Top Tube nos hicieron disfrutar mucho probándola.
