Criterium Valencia. Episodio III

Como dice el refrán: “No hay dos sin tres” y, en el caso del Criterium Valencia, a cual mejor.

Los chicos de DeQueBikes no tiran la toalla y luchan año tras año por seguir creciendo y mejorando como organizadores de un evento único en Valencia y que se está convirtiendo en todo un referente a nivel nacional.

Después de la épica segunda edición vivida el año pasado gracias a la alucinante tromba de agua que cayó convirtiendo la carrera en una auténtica prueba de supervivencia, este año, la meteorología ha sido más benevolente y nos permitió disfrutar de un fin de semana de calor y buen tiempo.

Los encargados de orquestar el Criterium trabajaron duro para que todo saliera redondo, y se notó un salto a nivel de profesionalización respecto a años anteriores. Un total de más de 80 participantes procedentes de todas partes del territorio se dieron cita en el Pabellón Municipal de Mislata, en el que todos y cada uno de ellos tuvo su oportunidad para demostrar su nivel físico y técnico dado que el trazado es largo, exigente y con un par de zonas técnicas.

RACE TIME

Dada la escasa asistencia de chicas, la organización decidió unir la categoría femenina y la amateur en una misma carrera para que las chicas no se vieran dando vueltas asolas en un circuito tan extenso como este (1.8 km).

Respecto a la carrera Pro, el nivel sigue yendo al alza, tal y como hemos visto en otras pruebas durante el año, pero en esta ocasión, los “fuertes” decidieron hacer una carrera diferente. Desde la primera vuelta quedó claro que nadie quería hacer de conejillo de indias y liderar el grupo de cabeza tirando del carro, así que se optó por ir haciendo cambios de ritmo constantes y el grupo se iba rompiendo poco a poco. Fue todo tan atípico que hasta las últimas curvas de la última vuelta, el pelotón de cabeza estaba compuesto por 19 corredores y se decidió todo al sprint.

As the saying goes: “There is no two without three”, and in the case of the Criterium Valencia, whom better.

The guys of DeQueBikes don’t throw the towel and struggle every year to continue growing and improving as organizers of an unique event in Valencia which is becoming a reference at the national scene.

After the epic Second Edition lived last year thanks to the huge storm that fell making the race in a real test of survival, this year, the weather has been more benevolent and allowed us to enjoy a good weather and a warm weekend.

The responsible of managing the Criterium worked hard to get everything ok, and we noticed a big step forward at the level of professionalization concerning years earlier. More than 80 participants from all parts of the territory were gathered in the Municipal Pavilion of Mislata, where each and every one of them had the chance to demonstrate their physical and technical level, because the path is long, demanding and with a couple of technical areas.

RACE TIME

Due to the scarce attendance of women, the Organization decided to join women and amateur’s category in the same race so the women wouldn’t be riding alone in an extensive circuit as this one (1.8 km).

Regarding the Pro race, the level still going upward, as we have seen in other tests during the year, but on this occasion, the “strong people” decided to make a different race. Since the first round, it was clear that no one wanted to be the Guinea pig and lead the head group, so they chose to make constant changes of pace and the Group was breaking little by little. It was all so atypical that up to the last curves of the last lap, the head bunch was composed of 19 riders and the result has been decided at the sprint.
